Created in 1976, the Forum International de l'Innovation Sociale (the Forum) is an international non-profit association whose aim is to promote social innovation in private and public institutions. "Social innovation" means the ability to innovate in terms of social behaviors, whether personal or professional. The term also implies the capacity to envision options other than repetition and reproduction of past behavior. The term focuses on the ability to transform roles and, thereby, on the ability to contribute to the transformation of institutions. Australian Centre for Social Innovations Australian Centre for Social Innovations (ACSION) began in 1990, inspired by the Institute for Social Inventions . Its web-site, Australian Alternative Innovations and OzIdeas, http://www.vicnet.net.au/~ozideas, has published nearly 90 web-pages of innovations and ideas that it seeks to publicise for discussion and promotion. The site encourages and supports social innovation by providing information and a knowledge base, competitions, advertising, poles and inspirational stories. The Center for Alternative Development Initiatives The Center for Alternative Development Initiatives (CADI) is a Philippine-based civil society organization (CSO) dedicated to the study, encouragement and implementation of sustainable development. CADI was established in February 1988 to spread the reality of holistic sciences and philosophies of human beings, society and nature. The Simultaneous Policy Organisation The Australian Foresight Institute (AFI) is situated in Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, Australia. AFI is a specialised research and postgraduate teaching unit which is part of Chancellery at the University. It was established in 1999 by Dr. Richard Slaughter to develop an innovative set of postgraduate programs and research in the area of applied foresight.
